On August 21st and August 22nd, LURe joined over sixty other organizations at the Student Organization Fair to spread awareness about the journal to University of West Georgia students. This event is significant for students looking to get involved on campus, allowing them to meet various organizations and see their options before the fall semester gets underway. Similarly, the event allowed LURe to meet new students face-to-face, let them know about us, and answer any questions they might have.
Each student who stopped by the LURe table was informed about our student-run journal, our submissions, our Undergraduate Research Conference, and the opportunity to become an integral part of the journal’s production as a staff editor. We encouraged these students to take home our informational flyers and pieces of candy, and in return, we received their e-mails to send additional information and reminders about applying for positions.
We wish to thank any student who stopped by our table and inquired about our organization! You made our first Student Organization Fair a huge success!
LURe would like to thank everyone who participated in the LURe Used Book Sale this week, including the UWG chapter of Sigma Tau Delta and members of the LURe staff, who helped set up and run the table, as well as everyone who donated and bought books for the cause!
As you can see from the photos, the Used Book Sale was a great success, with much involvement from the students and faculty/staff at the University of West Georgia.
It is because of you that LURe was able to raise money towards our NEH grant, which will match all of the profits we are able to raise before April 30th.
Once again, thank you for supporting LURe and the humanities!
LURe Journal has been preparing a few fundraisers recently. Every donation and contribution is going towards LURe’s expansion moving forward. Here’s how:
Because the NEH grant is a challenge grant, this means they will match the amount we manage to raise over the next two years (up to $25,000 per year), effectively doubling the contributions you’re adding to! The more you contribute, the more the NEH contributes—a win/win!
With your help, LURe will accomplish so much more!
LURe Journal‘s paper submissions are officially open! We accept scholarly, researched undergraduate essays on all topics and historical periods of literature, film, critical theory, or cultural studies.
Please review the submission policies before submitting and email us at email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns!
Panel schedules have been announced! View the entire program below, plan your trip, and come listen to wonderful students discuss their research! Don’t forget LURe’s seventh volume release following the conference and the Meet the Authors event.
LURe Journal will once again be hosting the University of West Georgia English & Philosophy department Undergraduate Research Conference.
The conference is approaching and we can’t wait to see everyone there!
LURe Journal will once again be hosting the University of West Georgia English & Philosophy department Undergraduate Research Conference. The conference will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 12:30 pm – 6:30pm in the UWG Campus Center.
Students will present their research in panels (schedule forthcoming) throughout the afternoon. Following the panels, LURe will be releasing our seventh volume of literary undergraduate research and holding a Meet the Authors event.
We invite everyone to come sit in on panels and listen to the amazing research the students have worked so hard on in the past year. If you’re presenting, feel free to share with your friends and family!
